Integrated Strategic Plan

2022-2023

We conducted extensive research early in the process, spanning Urban Design, Landscape/Public Realm, Transport, Infrastructure, Sustainability and Economics, to establish viable directions and principles for the plans. It is intended that this large-scale, high-level strategic paln will inform future Precinct Structure Plans and Urban Design Frameworks for various locations within the plan area.

The Plan was developed through a series of major 'Inquiry by Design' Workshops (in-person and online), planned and facilitated by McP, involving Council officers, State Government, agencies, landowners and other stakeholders. The Plan is built on the principles of 20-minute neighbourhoods, with all dwellings within 10-minutes’ walking distance of a Local or Major Activity Centre. It also establishes parameters for a future Train Station and Football Stadium in the Town Centre.

McP also instigated a ‘peer review’ of the work in progress, by an external panel of experts in Urban Design and Planning, to ensure our work was rigourous and well-founded. We worked closely with subconsultants ARUP and LatStudios to develop, test and integrate the various disciplinary layers to the Plan.
