RCD is a Victorian Government initiative, commenced in 2006, to transform the quality, amenity, safety and performance of the previously decaying Central Dandenong Area. Sites 11-15 form a strategic cluster between Dandenong Station and Halpin Way, a new pedestrian street, and adjacent to the new Dandenong Civic Centre.
McP was instrumental in Capital Alliance’s successful developer bid process, through EOI and RFP phases. We then guided the extensive Master Plan process through regular stakeholder engagement and rigorous design processes. The project will generate $572 million in public value, contributing $1.5 billion/year to the Dandenong economy, and supporting some 12,490 jobs during operation.

The precinct is envisaged to comprise a new and revitalised ‘Little India’ laneway environment, community spaces, a Food Hall, extensive commercial space including a Business Incubator and Innovation Exchange, a hotel, extensive retail/hospitality, and 500 dwellings.

Existing streets will be retained and enhanced to support pedestrian priority, and a new urban plaza/park will be created, fronting Foster Street. Built form has been configured to optimise streetscape quality and solar access to the public realm, within a high-density urban setting.
