Moonee Valley Park
Moonee Valley Park is the major mixed-use redevelopment of the Moonee Valley Racecourse precinct, being delivered by a Joint Venture between Hamton and HostPlus, in collaboration with the Moonee Valley Racing Club. McP has provided strategic and targeted urban design inputs to this long-term project since 2017, working with a range of stakeholders and design teams. The racecourse is being upgraded with a new track, grandstand and infield facilities, while the grounds will accommodate a diversity of residential types, around a network of streets, lanes and green spaces, and supported by retail, commercial and hospitality spaces.

McP Studio provided foundational urban design inputs to this major mixed-use development project, at the outset of its 20-year delivery timeframe. After being selected as the successful development partners by the Moonee Valley Racing Club, Hamton/HostPlus immediately engaged McP to review and test their bid proposal, provide strategic inputs and insights, develop guiding Urban Design Principles and participate in collaborative visioning and design processes to drive the early phases of work.
We later revised the Urban Design Principles document, gaining broad stakeholder support, and provided review and advisory inputs to the design development for Cox Place, the future mixed-use/commercial heart of the precinct, and pedestrian connections across Moonee Valley Park.
The Precinct will become an extension of the Moonee Ponds Activity Centre and will leverage its outstanding location for walking, cycling and public transport access, delivering a diversity of residential and employment opportunities and innovative new public spaces.
McP is currently contributing to the masterplanning of the North-East Precinct of Moonee Valley Park.
