McP planned and delivered a series of participatory workshops to engage local communities, industry and government in long-term future land use visioning for the Latrobe Valley and its expansive open-cut mines.

Alongside major technical studies into Geotechnical and Water implications, this project grapples with the complex nature of a post-fossil fuels future, and the spatial, social, economic and environmental potentials that this presents.

Our work researched and referenced precedents and ideas from around the world, and involved engagement with Latrobe City Council, multiple Government Departments, technical specialists, mining interests and industry representatives, and members of the Latrobe Valley community, in considering land use opportunities and directions at both regional and local scales.
