The Precinct Plan went on public exhibition in March 2026, with a series of pop-ups, tours and review sessions for the community to engage in.

Our master plan process centred on a series of participatory 'Inquiry by Design' Workshops involving Council officers and other stakeholders, to collectively develop and test the project vision and directions, planning ideas and proposals and strategic initiatives. These workshops have included shorter sessions with larger groups to undertake visioning and SWOT analysis, and full-day, hands-on design sessions, to develop the plans.

Our work provides a defining vision and development framework for the precicnt, and integrates a parallel master planning process for the Market itself (by others), within the Precinct Plan area. The Precinct Plan was also guided and tested by the Victorian Design Review Panel (OVGA), through a series of workshops and review sessions.

McP Director Simon McPherson was born and grew up in Dandenong, attending high school about 1km from the Market. He is building on his extensive local experience of working on the Revitalising Central Dandenong project for Capital Alliance and Development Victoria, while leading a team with substantial local knowledge. Collaborators BKK Architects worked on the original Revitalising Central Dandenong Master Plan, and the renewal of Lonsdale Street.
